Schneider Electric Canada wins VIATEC Technology Company of the Year Award

Mississauga, ON – Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management, received the Technology Company of the Year (50+ employees) award at the recent 2016 Victoria Innovation Advanced Technology and Entrepreneurship Council (VIATEC) Technology Awards show in Victoria, B.C.
The annual VIATEC Technology Awards is B.C.’s largest and most elaborate technology sector awards show and celebrates the achievements of technology companies and individuals in the Greater Victoria area. The awards recognize established local companies that form the foundation of the local $4 billion technology sector. These firms continue to grow but also give back to the community by acting as mentors, advisors and cheerleaders for other up-and-coming tech companies.
This year’s winner, the Schneider Electric Global Power Solutions team, is located within Schneider Electric’s R&D centre for power metering hardware and software in Victoria, B.C. The award recognizes its ongoing commitment and hard work in developing innovative power and energy measurement and management solutions that are not only market leaders in Canada, but well received globally — including the PM8000 Energy Meter, which was last year’s winner of the VIATEC Innovative Excellence Award.

Schneider Electric opened the Power and Energy Measurement and Monitoring Global R&D Centre in Victoria in 1983. Since then, the centre has designed and manufactured many global energy metering and management products. Combining design and manufacturing in one facility shortens Schneider Electric’s time to market, optimizing the project design life cycle and encouraging innovation.
